These cornerstones were placed on buildings around Syracuse University to commemorate their erection, can you figure out which cornerstone belongs to which building on campus?

It's Crouse College! And while the cornerstone is in the traditional corner, it is elevated off the ground at the bottom left of the building.

The cornerstone at Crouse College was laid on June 6, 1888. Pictured below is a photograph of the cornerstone ceremony. The caption from the photograph reads "Buggies and derbies crowd around for Crouse College cornerstone laying ceremonies at Hall of Languages "on the hill" in 1889. Also pictured is a program from the same ceremony.

It's Eggers Hall! The Building was erected as an addition to the Maxwell School in 1992. The cornerstone, which is in fact not in a corner of the building at all, is located in the bottom left of the photograph, just at the top of the staircase. In more modern buildings, such as Eggers, the cornerstone is sometimes replaced with an etching of the opening or date of dedication somewhere on the building.

It's Hall of Languages!

The cornerstone is located on the bottom right side of the building, just next to the young woman in the white jacket. And did you know there are actually two cornerstones on Hall of Languages? As the first university building on campus the cornerstone was laid by one of the founders and President of the Board of Trustees, Bishop Jesse T. Peck on August 31, 1871. But the two cornerstones, both located on opposite sides of the building read both 1873 and 1881.

Can't quite place this cornerstone? It's Archbold Gymnasium!

The cornerstone is located at the bottom right of the building, and unfortunately as pictured above, in the winter is often covered by snow. The gymnasium was built in 1908 and the cornerstone was laid on March 24, 1908. But the building didn't officially open until December on the occasion of the Junior Prom.
